Auction all confiscated goods, President tells Ports Authority

The Ports Authority has been directed by President Mahinda Rajapaksa to auction all confiscated goods immediately, says Government Revenue and Finance Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.

The President has also called for the registration of all shipping agents and representatives under the Commercial Shipping Act. Only those registered companies will be allowed to engage in imports and or exports, the Minister said.

All containers entering the harbour are to be checked thoroughly and discussions are on among the port officials and Naval intelligence on the modalities of the inspection, added Miister Siyambalapitiya.
