Sea Tiger suicide bid foiled, one boat captured

(Lanka-e-News, April 15, 2009, 3.30 pm) In the morning of the Sinhala an Hindu New Year yesterday (14), Sri Lanka Navy opened fire on two Sea Tiger boats and sank one of them. The other boat was taken into the custody of the Navy.

Three bodies believed of Lt. Colonel Karna, Waran and another were recovered from the boat that was taken into custody. A 12.7 mm anti-aircraft weapon, one M. P. M. G. weapon, a revolver and a large stock of explosives and dry rations were also recovered from the arrested boat.

The other boat was destroyed in the Navy attack and sank with the LTTE cadres in it.

Navy siphoned the LTTE communication that instructed Sea Tigers to infiltrate amidst the troops and to attack them.
