Development is not challenged, Sri Lanka President says

Nov 17, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that the development targets in the country are not challenges anymore as the country is now following a correct path.

Speaking at the ceremony held this afternoon to issue a commemorative currency note by the Central Bank, President Rajapaksa said the citizens of the country are not feeling unsecure about their future anymore.

According to the President most Sri Lankans left the country in the past due to the fear surrounding them over their future as well as the future of the country.

"The whole the setup has now been changed, a new country has been built up," the President stressed.

Pointing out that credibility and hope are growing up in the minds of each and every person, including expatriates, the President said that no one expected a change like what the country is experiencing today.

According to the President the government as well as he had experienced unexpected barriers during the course of this development in the past. "But we achieved it," the President said.

The most difficult experience was the thirty-year long terrorism, but it was completely defeated, the President said in conclusion.
